SENEKO NEWS | SELAYAR — Pa'batteang is the name of a hamlet located in the administrative area of Lalang Bata Village, Buki District, Selayar Regency, South Sulawesi.
A village area approximately thirty kilometers from the district capital.
The name Pa'batteang Hamlet suggests a unique and fascinating historical record. The name Pa'batteang is said to have been inspired by a legend of a fight between a chicken and a human that ultimately ended in death.
The chicken and the human who fought each other, both lost their lives and were finally buried in the public cemetery complex (TPU) of Pa'batteang Hamlet to simply serve as historical evidence.
Not only does it hold records of legends and history, but the village, home to approximately 243 people, is also known for its abundant natural resources, ranging from spices to plantation crops.
Apart from that, Pa'batteang Hamlet is a small village that quietly 'tucks away' many tourist spots.
One of them is the view from the top of Paopodo Hill which has the potential to be 'magically transformed' and managed into a base for developing a camping tourist destination area.
The rugged, slippery, and rocky terrain of the Paopodo Hilltop, mixed with mossy rocks, automatically makes it a popular destination for adventure camping. This contrasts with several other tourist destinations in Selayar Regency, which are accessible by car and motorcycle.
The summit of Paopodo Hill requires visitors to walk approximately two kilometers from the village, crossing the Lahurae River and slippery, mossy rocks. The Paopodo Hilltop area has become a base for developing challenging camping destinations that will truly test your courage and adrenaline.
The development status of the Pa'batteang Hamlet camping tourist destination is also supported and enhanced by the presence of an Islamic burial site from the colonial era which is located approximately one hundred meters from the peak of Paopodo Hill.
Of the twenty-three unmarked ancient burial sites, some were found to use only flat stones as headstones. Unfortunately, these ancient burial sites, which should have been magnets and tourist attractions, have been left neglected, appearing neglected and neglected.
Evidently, weeds and undergrowth have been left to cover the area of these unmarked, unmarked burial sites located around the summit of Paopodo Hill.
Another unique and interesting fact is symbolized by the discovery of two naturally formed wells, resembling vertical holes in the ground, surrounded by stalactite formations. The wells are located at the foot of a hill, surrounded by diverse plantation vegetation, including coconut, cashew, turmeric, teak, soursop, and even palm and/or gebang trees.
The vegetation of plantation crops, in itself, positions Pa'batteang Hamlet as a future agro-tourism and fruit destination development area for Lalang Bata Village.
In this context, the government is being urged and urged to immediately resolve the road infrastructure improvements that have been a public concern for years. The government is also being urged to immediately allocate funds for the development of road infrastructure and access to the Paopodo hilltop area. (Fad)
