Prabowo Calls Mahmoud Abbas: Indonesia Consistently Supports the Palestinian People's Struggle

SENEKO NEWS | JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto used the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri to strengthen relations with friendly countries. One way was through a phone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palace confirmed that this step was part of the President's ongoing relationship with world leaders, particularly from Muslim countries.

"President Prabowo Subianto has renewed his communication by extending Eid al-Fitr greetings through phone calls with Muslim leaders of friendly countries, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas," said Cabinet Secretary Teddy in an official statement on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

In addition to Palestine, the Head of State also called other leaders, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

According to Teddy, this series of communications was not just a means of greeting the holiday but also a means of strengthening bilateral relations and solidarity between the countries.

"This gathering is a prayer and good hope for maintaining closeness, support, and strengthening cooperation between countries, especially during this meaningful Eid," he continued.

Furthermore, Teddy said, communication with Mahmoud Abbas also reflects Indonesia's consistent support for the Palestinian people's struggle. Since the beginning of independence, Indonesia has considered Palestine a strategic partner with strong historical ties.

In various international forums, Indonesia has consistently been at the forefront of promoting a just and dignified peace for Palestine.
